As Veterans Day approaches, I, Julie Mock, a Realtor serving Southeast Georgia, pause to honor the courage, dedication, and sacrifices made by our veterans. Living and working in this community, I am deeply grateful for the countless men and women who have served our country, many of whom I am fortunate to call neighbors. Their service allows us to enjoy the freedoms we cherish, and today, I extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to all those who have defended our way of life.
Celebrating Veterans in Our Southeast Georgia Community
Our local veterans have served in every branch of the military, from the Army to the Air Force, and many have returned to Southeast Georgia to continue giving back. Veterans in Bulloch, Tattnall, Toombs, and surrounding counties contribute greatly to our community, often serving as first responders, educators, business owners, and community leaders. Their values and experiences enrich our lives and create a stronger, more resilient community. I am proud to work and live alongside these heroes, who demonstrate such profound dedication to our country and community.
Supporting Veterans from Nearby Military Bases
With several prominent military bases nearby, military service is part of Southeast Georgia’s history and economy. Fort Stewart, located in Hinesville, is one of the largest Army installations in the country, just a short drive from areas like Statesboro, Reidsville, and Metter. The region around the base offers small towns, open land, and scenic landscapes. The base, known for housing the 3rd Infantry Division, has been a pivotal part of military operations and continues to bring a strong sense of patriotism and service to our area.
Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah is another important installation near our region, serving as a critical hub for air support and Army operations. Nearby counties like Bulloch and Effingham offer quieter, rural settings within driving distance of the airfield.
For those stationed at Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base near St. Marys, our area offers an appealing option for homeownership away from the immediate coastline, providing a peaceful setting without losing access to essential amenities and a supportive community.

Attending a community event, reaching out to a veteran you know, or simply reflecting on their sacrifices are meaningful ways to show appreciation. Southeast Georgia is home to a vibrant veteran community, and it’s important to recognize and support the individuals who have given so much for our freedom.
